Our testers loved the easy access to the side panel, which can be moved up and down with just one push of a button. This was particularly helpful during nighttime feedings as they could reach in and pick their baby up without disturbing them.

It is possible to lower the side panel it's own, however this is not advised, as it increases the risk that your child could fall out of the cot.
